Finding the Perfect Yoga Wear

When purchasing Yoga wear, consider the following six factors: 1. Size 2. Fit 3. Style 4. Color 5. Quality 6. Price

Size – This is the most important thing to consider when purchasing clothing for Yoga. If your clothes do not fit, you will be uncomfortable during your workout. Never purchase an item of clothing thinking you’ll lose a few pounds soon and then it will fit. Buy clothes that are the correct size for your body right now. Also, do not buy clothes that are too large, with the intention of hiding in your clothes. If you are taking a Yoga class, instructors need to be able to see the lines of your body to determine whether you are performing the poses correctly.

Fit – Even if an article of clothing is the size you usually wear, it still may not fit you correctly. Everybody has a different body type. People gain weight in different areas of their body and it is important that when you buy Yoga wear you are completely comfortable in it. If the clothing hugs you too tightly somewhere and you are continually tugging at it, or trying to stretch it out, then it is not the right fit for you. During Yoga, you need to be able to be completely focused on what you are doing. Any form of distraction, such as adjusting the fit of your clothing, will detract from your overall experience and quest for inner peace.

Style – Many people will say that style is not an important consideration when finding Yoga clothes, but since Yoga is about self-reflection, it is important to dress in a style that reflects who you are. You should buy Yoga wear in styles that you are comfortable in, and even that you feel attractive in.

Color – Yoga is all about relaxation and finding peace. It has been proven that color has a big impact on how you feel. If you do not like or love the color of the item you are considering purchasing, don’t buy it! You should find clothes that complement each other in color and are interchangeable. If you do not like the color you are wearing, there will be a change in your attitude and it will impact your ability to achieve the optimum relaxation state that Yoga strives to attain. Blues and greens are known to be the colors that promote feelings of peace, and are therefore particularly suited to Yoga, but make your choice according to your own preferences.

Quality – Quality is an important consideration when buying Yoga wear. Many brand name items are more expensive; sometimes they are higher in quality and sometimes they aren’t. Look for comfortable, durable fabric, and seams that appear stable. The higher the quality of construction, the longer it will last and you will be able to go for a longer amount of time without needing to replace your wardrobe.

Price – Although all of the other factors will contribute more to your overall Yoga experience, price is still important to most of us. And often, you can find Yoga wear that will meet your needs and still come at a reasonable cost. Yoga clothing should not be a strain on your budget, but it is important to purchase the proper Yoga attire so you can participate in Yoga exercises with maximum comfort, and not feel like a misfit in your class.
