What is Roxy?
The Roxy clothing line began in 1990 as Quiksilver’s junior girls’ line. Roxy is dedicated to active living and the extreme sports lifestyle. The Roxy girl is involved in beach sports and snow sports—or wants to look like she is—and demands a girly fit and functional wear, making Roxy swim wear perfect for every girl. Roxy prides itself on its connection to the junior customer, progressive yet embracing all elements of life. The clothes range from basic surfwear for sport and style to vintage inspired, forward sportswear.
More Roxy swim wear history.
Roxy is the leading brand for active girls and was launched as an exclusive swimwear line. The first season on the market, Roxy’s sales volume totaled $1.1 million. In 1992, the company moved into sportswear by introducing junior denim and snow wear into their expanding line, but was still well known for swim wear. The Roxy Empire has since expanded to include shoes, perfume, beauty supply, board shorts, room accessories, and cosmetics. Freestanding stores exist all over the country, and the company also sponsors surf competitions and surf schools on both U.S. coasts.
So tell me about the clothes.
Roxy clothes are affordably priced and always in style for teenage girls. Roxy even features a girls’ line called Teenie Wahine, aimed at girls eight to 14. The two lines offer hundreds of different bathing suit styles with many more coming out each season. The suits range from modest and cute one pieces to attractive, wearable bikinis. The Roxy symbol, a heart made from two Quiksilver wave emblems, has come to represent the trendy, sporty girls’ market and is very popular in schools and beyond across America.
Roxy swim wear in action.
The Roxy Board Rider’s Team began in 1994 when it sponsored that year’s Surfing World Champion, Lisa Anderson. This put Roxy swimwear back on the map. Then, in 1995, the first annual Quiksilver/Roxy Women’s Pro Surfing Event came about on Sunset Beach in Hawaii. Roxy still sponsors the last spot on the Association of Surfing Professionals World Champion Tour.
In recent years, the Board Rider’s Team has expanded to include more rising women’s surf stars. Megan Abubo, Lila Balmores, Tina Bessinger, Veronica Kay, Daize Shayne, Allison Lopez, Missy Gibson, Tanya Booth, Rachel Greff, and Cristiana Janssen have now joined Lisa Anderson on the Roxy surf team.
What’s the difference between Roxy, Roxy girl, and Teenie Wahine?
Roxy swim wear is mostly bikinis, string and halter tops. Roxy girl is the more conservative types, featuring tankinis and bikinis with a little more coverage. Teenie Wahine is a children’s line targeted at 7-14-year-olds.
You can buy Roxy’s swim wear in any of the 50 states, even if you are nowhere near an ocean! Roxy’s swim wear can work for any sporty girl who wants accessible, wearable trendy clothes that everyone from school will love. Prices are reasonable, especially for how durable the clothes are. Among surf and swim brands, Roxy is always at the top for its durability and style.
