Are you already a broker, agent or appraiser looking to refresh your real estate skills? Or if you are interested in obtaining your license, there are several places to earn your real estate education.

You may think your  real estate education ended when you passed your state exam, but continuing to take part in real estate training after the test is vital to maintaining a successful business.   is offered in a variety of locations. Some colleges and universities have programs for individuals who want to go into a career in real estate, and some of these programs even offer scholarships, provide access to internships and include a center for career placement.

Getting a  real estate education can significantly help those who want to become brokers, real estate agents or appraisers.

Broker: A broker helps a person buy or sell real estate. The broker is the person who owns the real estate company, and is in charge of the real estate agents.

Real estate agent: An agent can buy and sell homes or other types of real estate.

Appraiser: An appraiser will have learned techniques that help him or her know how to give a monetary value to land, as well as to residential and commercial buildings.

In addition to colleges and universities, DVDs, books, CD-ROMs and the Internet can be valuable resources in your  real estate education. The method you choose may depend on your reasons for learning more about real estate.

Learning real estate with DVDs: You can get a DVD on almost any aspect of real estate, including the following subjects: home inspections, appraisals, investing in real estate, home improvement and buying and selling a home. DVDs are good because you can keep them and watch them again and again, unlike a lecture in a college class. They are especially useful for those already knowledgeable about the field; beginners should exercise caution, however, and should use DVDs as a supplement to additional training if they really want to pass their real estate exam.

Learning real estate with books: There are thousands of books on real estate. They are good to study and mark up with notes; the problem is finding a good one. Your library may be a good source of information on real estate. You may also want to talk to a real estate agent or broker and see which real estate books he or she recommends.

Learning real estate with a CD-ROM: If you are learning real estate in order to pass your exam, then a CD ROM is one excellent way to study. There are several companies that will send you a CD with practice questions. Be aware that most CDs don’t teach; they quiz. Before you buy the CD, make sure that it will work with your computer and its software.

Learning real estate on the Internet: Many Internet sites will teach you the basics of real estate free of charge. There are also several online classes you can take. These classes are geared to helping you pass the real estate exam. Remember, each state has a different exam, so be sure the class will help with the real estate laws in your state.

Regardless of the method you choose, investing in your  real estate education is a wise choice. Continue your training today.
