Why a school?
In order to obtain a realtor’s license in Pennsylvania, you must complete and pass a written exam administered by the state Real Estate Commission. To help you prepare for this exam, there are a number of established real estate schools that offer courses in various topics that can orient you to the real estate world and give you a broad perspective of what to expect on the exam. Examples of courses you will find at a Pennsylvania real estate school include:
- Real Estate Law
- State Policy
- Contract Issues
- Agency and Representation
- Finance
- Real Estate Math
- Valuation and Market Analysis
No matter where you live, there is sure to be a Pennsylvania real estate school in your area. Contact the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission if you have questions as to where you can attend classes. Local real estate agencies may also be helpful in finding a school. Schools operate on different schedules, so be sure you find one that offers all the classes you need in a time schedule that allows you to take the exam when you desire.
Take into consideration whether or not you have time and dedication to regularly attend a Pennsylvania real estate school. If you learn better in a structured environment, perhaps a traditional class is for you. If you have neither the time in your schedule or the desire to attend a traditional class, perhaps another learning option is better suited to your lifestyle.
Other options
If attending actual classes is not convenient for you, you may be interested in one of the many CD-ROM review courses offered from real estate organizations across the nation. These electronic courses cover the same topics traditional classes do, and allow you to move at your own pace and learn on your own time. This can be helpful for those who already have a full time job or who have a family and cannot find the time to attend traditional classes. These courses can be purchased from many organizations.
While these online classes are available to prepare you for your initial realtor’s exam, in order to maintain your license, you may need to attend traditional classes at a Pennsylvania real estate school to meet state requirements every few years. Whatever you decide to do, the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission should be one of your main resources.
