In an era where it seems the less clothes you wear, the better, it can be hard to encourage your daughter to choose a one piece swimsuit when it’s time to hit the pool. Sometimes, it can seem like string and triangle top-bikinis are on every girl at the beach. Many people see modest swimwear as old-fashioned and prudish, since they are probably envisioning their grandmother’s incredibly modest swimsuit from the 1920’s. They sometimes earn a bad reputation, but one piece bathing suits aren’t as bad as they used to be. Modesty can be cool, and there are myriad reasons why being modest is a good idea.
Why modesty?
Covering up your body can improve your self esteem and image. If boys aren’t distracted by how much skin you are showing, they can become your friend based on your personality and what is on the inside, not the outside. They will judge you on your heart and character, which is what really matters anyway. Many people put too much worth on what their outsides look like, and if others don’t look exactly like them in a bikini or a miniskirt, they can start to feel very bad about themselves by comparing their body types.
Besides, one piece swim wear is so much easier to be active in. When wearing a one piece, you can play volleyball, go for a run on the sand, toss a Frisbee and even roll over on your towel without worrying something will fall out or come untied. Bikinis might look cute when you are sunbathing and not moving, but if you try to do anything else they create more worry than they are worth. The kind of security provided by one piece swimwear is a valuable consideration. Besides—think how grateful the boys will be that they can play sports or horseplay with the girls without worrying about embarrassing themselves.
What kinds of one piece swim wear is out there?
One piece swim wear doesn’t mean you have to be covered from head to toe. You can still look very cute without your belly hanging out for everyone to see. One piece suits have definitely evolved for the better over the past few years, with new styles and accents given to them. Rather than the traditional tank suit, the top of one piece suits sometimes tie around the neck to form a halter top. Others have spaghetti straps that tie in little bows above the shoulders. Some are even strapless or have the look of a triangle top along the bust, but are connected to the trunk of the suit. As for the bottom half, some suits have a modern high cut leg to elongate the legs, while others feature boy-shorts for a little more coverage. Besides, with a one piece you can actually see how cute the material is in a larger scope than a tiny triangle.
Next swimsuit season, give one piece swim wear a try. You will be much more comfortable and secure, and will be able to focus on what really matters—having a good time!
