Haircare today takes on many different shapes and sizes—mostly in various bottles and electrical appliances. Women have so many choices for haircare; we put together a must-have list to make your haircare cabinet complete. With these haircare products and appliances, you will always be ready to keep your hair healthy and beautiful.
Blow Dryer
Every woman needs a high quality blow dryer in her cabinet. You may be able to survive for a while on your basic wimpy dryer for a while. Or some women may give their hair a hard time like I did for years by using a travel dryer for every day use. These practices are detrimental to positive haircare principles.
The best haircare idea when it comes to blow dryers is less is more. The less you have to use the dryer, the better off your hair’s health will be. The higher-powered blow dryers are usually more expensive, but they allow you to dry your hair in less time than the weaker hair dryers, thus saving your hair from damage that can result from too much blow drying.
Also, be sure you put a diffuser on your blow dryer and only use the medium heat setting. A cardinal rule of haircare is to keep your hair from over drying through direct blow drying at high heat settings. Another rule for haircare is to only blow dry until your hair is mostly dry. Never keep going until your hair is bone dry. Not only will the slight dampness keep your hair healthier, but it will also help your other heat styling to hold better.
Ceramic Heat Tools
Ceramic curling irons and flat irons are haircare appliances that have been gaining momentum over the last few years. Before this, most women used to use basic haircare heat tools with bare metal or a combination of metal and bristles. The metal can cause breakage on your hair and can have uneven heating. Ceramic haircare tools give you less chance for breakage and because of their innovative heating pattern, they can actually curl or flatten your hair in less time. Less time against the heat equals healthier hair.
Wide-tooth Comb
The last haircare tool you absolutely cannot go without in your trousseau is a wide-tooth comb. Too many women commit a haircare sin and brush their hair when they get out of the shower. Brushing wet hair causes breakage and split ends. Using a wide-tooth comb is a great way to gently work out the tangles and avoid as much breakage as possible
Root Lifter
This rarely used alternative haircare product is quite a gem. Many women pile on the mousse and other unnecessary haircare products, in an effort to give their hair volume, when in reality, a bit of root lifter will give their hair all the volume they need. The fewer heavy haircare products you can use, the bouncier your hair will be, and a small amount of root lifter goes a long way.
Wax or Pomade
These cousin haircare products work about the same. Some women prefer one over the other. The benefit of these haircare products over gel is the way they give your hair a bit of flexible hold, rather than getting crunchy like gel. Wax and pomade can also make a fun, piecey look.
Flexible Hold Hairspray
The haircare product that finishes it off. A couple spritzes on your ‘do and you are ready to conquer your day.
