Extended Stay Hotels — A Home Away from Home?

Anyone who travels a lot knows about hotels. For those who need to be in town for longer periods of time, there are extended stay hotels to make them feel more at home.

Extended stay hotels aim to make people feel more at home. They are hotels that specialize in customers who need to stay in their residence for a longer period of time than the usual weekend or weeklong customer. There are many reasons why people may need to stay in a hotel longer, business and personal affairs being two of the most common and popular reasons.

Also people who are in the process of moving are another group who are good candidates to look into staying at extended stay hotels. Moving can be a hassle for anyone, even if everything goes perfectly according to schedule. Yet, many people often sell their house before they are able to find another; or they have another house, but the buyers of their house want to close before they close on their new house. In this case, an extended stay hotel may be a good option for the individual and his or her family to stay for a while. This type of hotel will offer much more comfort and a homier environment than a regular hotel, even if it is only for a while.

Because there are different reasons for different people to stay at extended stay hotels, there are numerous choices. For people who need to be somewhere for a long period of time, a regular hotel just does not have all the amenities one may need.

A regular hotel is generally equipped with the basics: a bed, televisions, a bathroom, some furniture, and maybe a mini-refrigerator. For the person who is looking to stay longer than just a few days or a week, this may not be enough. When people are on vacation they generally expect and save up for dining out much more. Many people are on vacation to get away from all responsibilities — including cooking. On the other hand, many customers of extended stay hotels need a fully equipped kitchen because they are not there for vacation reasons and do not have the expenses or the time to go out to eat all the time. If one is in a place for a long period of time, they may also want to go and buy groceries rather than ordering expensive room service for such a long stay.

Some amenities that are offered by these kinds of hotels include: kitchens (usually complete with a full-size refrigerator, a stove, an oven, a coffee maker, a microwave and cooking and eating utensils), sometimes towels and a bar of soap, a coin-operated laundry room and sometimes a swimming pool. These types of facilities often also have the option of weekly or daily cleaning service. This service is for guests who do not want to be bothered on a daily basis when their room is their home for a long period of time.

One can find these hotels easily on the Internet with a simple search to see what amenities are offered as well as price ranges. Also, some well recognized hotel chains offer these types of hotels, so if there is a particular hotel one enjoys to stay at, one can look and see if they offer this kind of hotel in the area they wish to stay for a more comfortable home away from home.
