Are you feeling out of control? Do you see what your addiction is doing to you and your family? Or, do you see a family member or friend destroying his or her life with drugs? Then you’ve thought about drug rehabilitation, and just as there are several drugs to be addicted to, several reasons one started an addiction, and numerous reasons why an addiction holds onto a person, there are also several types and lengths of treatment. Most centers have a 20-70 per cent success rate, so don’t give up, and try to find the program that works best for you, because there are quite a few options when it comes to drug rehab. Some centers offer nutrition planning, psychotherapy sessions, alternative healing techniques, spiritual healing, and an individualized physical fitness program that may include swimming, tennis, volleyball, tai chi, and yoga. Other centers focus on the more spiritual aspect of stopping an addiction by calling on a higher power for help.
Other centers involve your family in the rehabilitation. Services found through these types of programs provide you with educational sessions, professional counseling, reference to programs in the community, and access to others who are going through the same problems.
The time you spend at a rehabilitation center varies. When most people think of drug rehab they think they will be locked away for a week or two. This is not always the case. Some centers offer an evening program that can last from a month and a half to two months. Others have you come once or twice a week for a class.
To be admitted to most programs, you will need a doctor’s referral and a psychiatric evaluation. Some insurance companies will pay for drug rehab, so check with your insurance provider for more information.
While looking for a center you’ll want to find out their success rate. It may be worth paying more if someone has a more successful program, but remember it is important to research programs and find one that you believe will work for you. Are you spiritually inclined? Then try a rehabilitation center that deals more with the spiritual. Are you into nutrition and dislike what drugs are doing to your body? Find a place that has an exercise program that helps with the rehabilitation process.
You may be the person who wants to check yourself into a program, or a family member who is wondering whether or not someone they care about should be checked in. Some centers have programs where the family of the person in rehabilitation goes to the center and becomes part of the addict’s healing process, which helps the family to start the healing process.
The cost of rehabilitation varies. It mostly depends on how long you stay. Most centers take insurance, so if you have insurance and a doctor’s referral you’re set. If you don’t have insurance, never fear, there are payment plans available at most centers. Remember, however, that while finding a drug rehab center in your price range is important, it is more important to find a program that will work for you. Getting off drugs truly is priceless.
