Cruise Your Way Around the World

See the world, experience new things, enjoy the sea air, all from the comfort of your mobile hotel. Taking a cruise can be a fun family vacation, a chance to celebrate your honeymoon, or rekindle the passion in your life. Even if you have a few apprehensions, you too will soon understand the appeal of a cruise and perhaps start planning one by the end of this article!

There are several issues that commonly come up with the issue of a cruise, but all your worries will soon be at rest. The bottom line of a cruise is that it is fun, safe, and can offer an experience like no other.

Don’t Fall Overboard About the Price

The cost of a cruise may at first appear shocking because it is one lump sum, but you must remember it includes almost everything: accommodations, food, and activities – both those planned by the cruise line onboard and off shore. You do have to watch out for hidden charges, such as bar drinks or special requests, because they can be charged to your room. Use of some of the ship’s facilities such as the shops and salon will also have separate charges. But on the plus side, reduced airfare price options are sometimes provided by certain cruise lines, allowing for a cheaper overall cost as opposed to a land-vacation.

Seasickness

People who have not had much experience on boats or else perhaps a bad instance may be wary of the idea of a moving hotel. But most cruise ships are so large and stabilized you can hardly tell you are even sailing on the open sea, especially if you happen to be on a cruise in typically calm waters such as the Caribbean. Cruise ship captains and state-of-the-art radar also help avoid bad weather and rough patches. In the event you do experience a queasy stomach, the medical facilities aboard the cruise ship will happily provide you with over-the-counter meds such as Dramamine or Bonine. If you happen to be prone to seasickness, consult your doctor before your cruise for other available means of prevention.

Safety First

Cruise ships are required to follow a number of rules and regulations in order to be properly equipped to have passengers and go on an excursion. The Coast Guard has routine inspections quarterly, especially making sure all cruise ships operating from U.S. ports are in full compliance with emergency-response regulations. Fire is the biggest safety concern on cruise ships – rather than sinking, as opposed to popular belief – and all ships are prepared with smoke detectors, sprinklers and low-level escape lighting. Also, upon boarding your cruise ship, all passengers are required to attend a safety precaution demonstration where you will learn how to properly wear a light jacket and be shown where lifeboats are located in the extreme chance they would be needed.

You’ll Never Be Bored Onboard

Most cruise ships are so large you will need a map to find your way around, as well as a list of activities available in various places on the ship. There is literally something for everyone, whether you wish to listen to intellectual guest speakers or join a wine tasting party, work out in the exercise room or shoot some hoops in the gym, or make a craft or even watch a movie. And of course there is always the pool and good ol’ sunshine, perfect for lying about and doing nothing at all. It is your cruise and your choice!
