Whether you want to travel the inside passage of Canada and Alaska, or bake on the deck of a Caribbean cruise, choosing a cruise from the many discount cruises available has never been easier. There is such a wide variety of choice in discount cruises that trying to decide which one is the right deal for you can often be baffling.
The first thing you need to consider is the ship’s route. Make sure you read the holiday itinerary carefully, in order to ensure that the ship will be stopping at the ports you are interested in. Imagine your dismay if you booked a holiday and you never got to go to all the places that you wanted to visit. Ask your travel agent for some detailed information. Find out how long the ship stays at the port. Inquire whether there is an opportunity for you to go off ship, and whether or not you can arrange day trips.
The next aspect you need to think about is the company you choose. Ask friends to recommend discount cruises they have been on. Find out which discount cruises are recommended by your travel rep. Most of all look into the company. Is the cruise company one you have heard of before, or are they a company that you can barely pronounce the name of? Do you know what their reputation is like? Have you used them before? Find out as much information as you can before you commit to using any particular cruise company for your holiday. And remember, there are no stupid questions; it’s only stupid not to ask.
You should also consider the type of cruise ship you want to travel on, and the costs that go with it. Do you want to pay more money for a luxury, first-class liner? Or are you happy to take an economy booth at the bottom of the boat? Would you like the ship to have a functional swimming pool? Or are you more interested in their games hall and activities center? Every cruise ship has a combination of different elements, and it is worthwhile taking some time to find out which ship is suitable for you.
You may also want to look into the clientele that use the cruise ship you are interested on using. Are you looking for a cruise with people of an older generation? Or is Club 18-30 more your style? As well as the general cruises that combine a good mixture of the two types of clientele, there are specialized cruises that cater to particular sectors of the market. Make sure that you look into the type of clientele to be expected on your chosen cruise ship, before deciding finally if it is the right ship for you.
Taking a cruise can be an enjoyable and relaxing holiday experience, as long as you do your research before you go. It is vital that you book a cruise that suits your needs. Remember, you could be confined to that ship for two weeks or more!
