Auto enthusiasts love their cars for many different reasons. Here is our best description.

Auto Enthusiasts: Enjoying the Drive from Point A to Point B

Auto enthusiasts are serious. Some spend money on things that make their cars faster, their trucks higher, their stereos louder, etc. Others insist that everything on their car remain “stock,” or factory original. Whatever the case, enthusiasts are as diverse as the vehicles they love.

What do Enthusiasts Read?

I’ve had a subscription to Car & Driver Magazine since 1989, before I could legally drive. I love their new car reviews and vehicle comparisons. Now that I’m older and can actually afford more than one subscription, I also receive Motor Trend Magazine each month. As for the Internet, auto enthusiasts can turn to www.Edmunds.com and www.Consumerguide.com for new car information and reviews. Consumer Reports also reviews new vehicles, though you must have a subscription in order to read the full articles. Of course, most local libraries stock Consumer Reports for their public patrons.

Auto Enthusiasts vs. Driving Enthusiasts

Surprisingly, not all car enthusiasts enjoy driving. Some just like tinkering under the hood, for example. I consider myself a driving enthusiast because I love being behind the wheel. I’m always excited to run errands and accomplish other banal tasks in the car, much to my wife’s satisfaction. I even love driving on long trips. I consider driving a sport – some drivers are good at it, some aren’t. Like a golf pro, sometimes I wish the amateurs would get out of my way so I can play through. I even enjoy driving in inclement weather, when others are happily at home. A novice can drive on dry pavement, but it takes skill to safely navigate through heavy rain and snow.

Driving School: a Driving Enthusiast’s Dream Come True

BMW of North America understands its customers. Though some choose to drive a BMW simply for style or status, many buyers appreciate BMW’s legendary balance on the road. Those who buy a new BMW can choose a delivery option that includes specialized driving instruction by professional BMW drivers on a closed performance course. If you’re not in the market for a new BMW, you can attend one of BMW’s seven driving clinics designed to improve your skills behind the wheel. Car Care: an Enthusiast’s Passion

If you’re a car enthusiast, chances are that you like to keep your car clean and looking its best. While many car owners admit they’ve never waxed a car in their life, an enthusiast will stop at next to nothing to achieve the perfect shine. I’ve tried products from most of today’s car care manufacturers, and I’ve found my favorite: Meguiar’s. You can research their products as well as learn tips on how to clean, protect, and beautify your car on Meguiar’s Web site, www.meguiars.com/howtocenter/. You can even get a personalized car care prescription unique to your vehicle, habits, and home environment.

Young Auto Enthusiasts: The Fast and the Furious

I don’t understand them, perhaps because I’m too old. These teenagers can turn a Honda Civic into a dedicated race machine within hours. What perplexes me, however, is their choice of an economy car designed for high gas mileage as the basis for their racing dream. Despite my lack of understanding, these auto enthusiasts continue to tailor their Japanese rides for the next 0-60 mph sprint down the main drag.
